Cheesy Cauliflower Dish!

        You Gluten Free people out there, do you miss macaroni and cheese? Well here is a substitute for that delicious dish that I find to be delectable.  Cauliflower is wonderful to you as a pasta substitute because it is starchy and you can steam it to what ever texture you desire. It is also great because the color reminds me more of pasta then say broccoli. Also if you aren't gluten free but want to go easy on wheat then this is perfect for you as well.

          When I tried this for the first time I was seriously blown away by its awesomeness. The sauce is obviously the most important part that makes it so scrumptious. In this recipe we did not use that much cheese so just add to your liking. Also after your sauce is finished cooking if you want it even more creamier you can add a dollop of mayonnaise to it to blow the flavor out of this world! Enjoy! We used a whole head of cauliflower and its leaves but not the core. 

The cauliflower awaiting its doom in the steamer basket. We steamed for about 10 minutes but, you can steam it to your liking. 

Ingredients

Recipe:

      1 head of cauliflower with leaves no core

      1 cup of heavy cream

      1/4 stick of butter

      1/2 cup of any kind of cheese you want! we used cheddar and Parmesan

      1 smallish yellow onion

      3 cloves of garlic

      salt and pepper to taste

      

Brown your diced onions in the butter over medium heat, do not burn!

Add garlic and cream and cook the cream down for about 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper to your liking. 

Then add thinly sliced or shredded cheese!

Add more cheese! Then stir in still over medium heat and cheese will slowly melt. 

After cheese is all melted add the steamed cauliflower and the two shall become one glorious food group!
